This Privacy Policy explains how Dance Mobile, LLC ("Dancity," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use the Dancity website and mobile application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account & identity: email address, password, mobile phone number, username, display name, date of birth, and gender.
- Profile: photos, bio, city/location, dance styles and roles, languages, and other details you add.
- Content: posts, messages, media, reviews, and other content you create or share.
- Payments: when you buy or sell through the Service, payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive limited transaction details but do not store full payment card numbers.
- Optional features: if you use compatibility or matching features, the preferences and answers you provide.
Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data: log data, device and browser type, app interactions, and approximate location derived from your IP address or, with your permission, your device location.
- Cookies & similar technologies: used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and secure the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service.
- Create and secure your account, and verify your email and phone number.
- Surface relevant events, dancers, groups, classes, and connections.
- Process transactions and manage subscriptions.
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and safety issues.
- Communicate with you about the Service, including service-related notices.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Text Messages (SMS)
When you add your mobile phone number, we send a one-time verification code by SMS to confirm the number, delivered through our messaging provider (Twilio). By providing your phone number, you consent to receive these one-time verification messages from Dancity.
Message frequency depends on your activity — typically one message per verification request. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time.
We do not use SMS to send marketing or promotional messages, and we do not share your mobile number or SMS opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- With other users: your profile and the content you post are visible to others according to your settings.
- Service providers that operate the Service on our behalf, including Supabase (database, authentication, hosting), Amazon Web Services (hosting), Stripe (payments), Twilio (SMS), and Cloudflare (security and delivery).
- Legal & safety: when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account at any time.
6. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, and residents of the EU/UK have rights under the GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@dancity.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Age Requirement
The Service is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Users
Dancity is operated from the United States, and your information is processed there. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Service.
